A true gem

I am so glad that I tuned in to Rockstar: Inxs when I did because the show introduced me to this great song.

I'm not really a fan of Pink Floyd though I'm sure they were a great band. At least I know that their existence brought life to this song with such powerful meaning. Lines in bold are the ones that really get to me.

Wish You Were Here - Pink Floyd

So, so you think you can tell
Heaven from Hell,
Blue skies from pain.
Can you tell a green field
From a cold steel rail?
A smile from a veil?
Do you think you can tell?

And did they get you to trade
Your heros for ghosts?
Hot ashes for trees?
Hot air for a cool breeze?
Cold comfort for change?
And did you exchange
A walk on part in the war
For a lead role in a cage?

How I wish, how I wish you were here.
We're just two lost souls
Swimming in a fish bowl,
Year after year,
Running over the same old ground.
What have we found?
The same old fears.
Wish you were here.
